Over the years, Gay Globe Magazine has dedicated a large number of covers to public figures, stars or people who are of paramount importance to the overall quality of life of people in LGBT communities. All these personalities are not equal in their reactions to our editorial choices, either to honor them or to denounce them. Here is an overview of the reactions of these personalities following our publications about them. Note that not all celebrities who make the « one » of the magazine are contacted, we do it only if it is possible.
Dalida, following the publication of our first cover dedicated to the great diva of disco, tragically deceased more than 30 years ago, his heir and brother Orlando gave us a wonderful gift, the complete documentary « Dalida, the Orlando years « , With a permanent right of diffusion. To this day, the documentary still occupies, every month, the five most popular elements of the Gay Globe website at www.gayglobe.net
Josh Elliot, star of the Belami company, enjoyed our interview and our photo selection for the cover. He remained very friendly with Gay Globe. The great Elizabeth Taylor demonstrated an unequaled grace by thanking us personally with a letter written by her hand, on her official pink paper. A gesture of a great class that will not surprise anyone, because she was very involved in the fight against HIV. Brad Pitt, despite his popularity in the gay community, did not follow up on sending the magazine to his impresario, but not everyone has time for individual responses.
Vladimir Poutine, le Sultan du Brunei et le Pape François n’ont pas répondu, mais ce n’est pas très difficile à comprendre. Les communautés LGBT sont, pour certains, des cibles à exécuter ou, à tout le moins, à ignorer.
Le Docteur Réjean Thomas a beaucoup apprécié notre couverture spéciale et il le méritait bien vu son historique voué au bien-être de nos communautés alors que Liza Minnelli était si heureuse de notre couverture qu’elle la diffusait sur sa page Facebook avec un gros merci en lettres majuscules. André Arthur avait bien aimé l’idée de faire notre «une» et a choisi lui-même sa photo.
La Reine Élisabeth, quant à elle, nous envoyait une lettre du Palais de Buckingham pour nous livrer un chaleureux merci, même chose pour le Prince Harry de sa résidence officielle. L’actrice Doris Day nous remerciait avec une belle photo dédicacée. La chanteuse Michèle Richard nous a remercié avec beaucoup d’affection et l’actrice Brigitte Bardot nous a signifié ses plus sincères remerciements.
Nous aurions beaucoup aimé avoir un feed-back de certaines personnalités comme Clémence Desrochers, Donald Trump ou Anderson Cooper, mais ce sont des privilèges peut-être irréalistes. Cela dit, le but de consacrer nos couvertures à des personnes influentes est de permettre de passer leur message, qu’il soit positif ou négatif. Nous continuerons avec cette formule qui plaît beaucoup aux lecteurs, ce n’est pas la matière première qui manque!
