CHRISTIAN CHENAIL: THE TROLL!

Roger-Luc Chayer

The famous fashion designer and fashion designer Christian Chenail wrote to me on June 6, as part of my job as a journalist and publisher of Gay Globe Group, to give me his opinion on a text about the American singer Donna Summer and spoke in these terms: « Donna Summer fallen queen of disco! Hello the alleged journalist, even dead Donna is the undisputed queen of disco, she exceeds time. I feel love is the ultimate disco piece announcing house and techno (sic) « Immediately advised that I would answer him in the pages of the magazine given the nature of his comment, he replied: » It makes me pleasure that you intend to spread your stupidity! (Sic)  »

These are two more than surprising comments from a public figure who, believing himself in disagreement with a new one, decides to attack the integrity of the journalist who is the author and thus benefits, for the moment, for the insult.

Contrary to what Chenail thinks, journalists do not publish information on the fly without it being based on credible facts or sources. In the case of Donna Summer, the term « fallen queen of disco », used in my text, comes from the consequences for her career, regrettable statements. For example, during the 1980s, at the beginning of AIDS, she, who was a « resurgent Christian, » reportedly said that AIDS was a punishment of God for the immoral lifestyle of homosexuals.

It was enough for his main public, the gays, to offend, in addition to launching a movement to return the disks of the diva to his production company, launched an international boycott that was very painful to his career. She will later apologize for her words by saying, « If I made you suffer, forgive me. » This is the origin of the phrase « fallen queen » used in my editorial. Rather than informing or simply remembering the AIDS / Summer affair, Christian Chenail preferred trolling and bullying to intimidate and attack my professionalism. This is unacceptable and like any form of cyberbullying or cyberbullying, he should be denounced for what he does!

But who is Christian Chenail? A fashion designer and stylist, his website presents him as « the creator of the MUSE label, which was first trained as an architect. First collection MUSE in 1989, first shop on rue Saint-Denis in 1993, Griffe d’Or in 1996 and six times grant holder of the Matinée Fashion Foundation, Christian Chenail has been creating for 25 years clothes both distinctive and comfortable, which exalt the femininity! « But now, Christian Chenail knew very well what he was saying, he who is the ex-spouse of a famous Radio-Canada journalist. Needless to say, Mr. Chenail could not ignore the rigor with which journalists are bound to work. A sad task on a CV otherwise remarkable.
