GAY GLOBE MAGAZINE READERS ‘MAIL #143

Hello, I have been reading Gay Globe Magazine for a long time and regularly and I wanted to congratulate you on your quality of the French language. I am a former French teacher and unlike other media that I read regularly, I never find any mistakes in your publication. Do you have a specific tip?
Louise D., Laval

Hello Louise, it is very rare to receive such a comment and I thank you for it. To be able to publish texts with as few errors as possible, we have a few tools and a formidable editor, Mr. Jean-Sébastien Bourré, who also has his linguistic editing company. It’s not a particular trick, but a series of maneuvers that allow us to achieve this result. First, I reread the texts as they are laid out. Then I use the proofreader in our magazine authoring software, Affinity Publisher, and do a full review of all magazine content. The human brain being what it is, the eye ignores several shells even though they are obvious. This is where our surgeon-linguist Jean-Sébastien comes in, who performs a final detailed and rigorous revision. And believe me, it happens to find typos on almost every page! I then incorporate his corrections into the final layout, which then goes to the printer. There you have it, you know everything about our review process.

Gay Globe I was stunned to discover that there was a charter of rights and responsibilities in Montreal and your analysis clearly shows that mayors, present and past, never respect it. Very good research and analysis work.
Marco B., Montreal
Thank you Marco, I could have continued on two other pages, there were so many inconsistencies between the text of the Charter and the daily actions of our mayors and elected officials. But the main thing was there. Thank you for your message.

I am a small business owner in Quebec City and have noticed that you have a premium, diverse and easy to understand website. I’m having trouble finding someone to make a site of the same nature. Does Gay Globe offer help in this area, to create a website?
Luc W., Quebec

Hello Luc. Thank you for your comment on our website. Our current site is the result of a major overhaul done just at the start of the pandemic, in 2020, as we had a little more time to do it. This is a WordPress template that you too can place on your website for free. Then it’s a matter of putting content there, which isn’t very complex. Gay Globe does not offer this service, but I am sure that if you advertise on your local « Spotted » Facebook pages or on Kijiji, you will find a student or entrepreneur who can easily take care of building the model. with your images and content inexpensively. It can even be done at home. Good luck.

Hello to the Gay Globe team, I would like to congratulate you on your text in a somewhat dated edition, about those who have opinions on everything and nothing on social media and who think of themselves as « citizen journalists ». Very well written and I totally agree with you. Thank you.
Alain L., Longueuil
Hello Alain, you are referring to the article « You Are Not Journalists » in issue # 141 with Jonathan Harris on the cover. Talk about it as much as possible, because social media allows any parakeet to chatter about anything and everything and it can even skew the debate on important issues. It is high time to regulate what is published there and to legislate on the responsibility of the users. We will come back to this in a future edition.

I’ve noticed a page about Celine in the magazine for a long time, does she own the magazine, sorry for my indiscretion.
Manon R., Montreal

Hello Manon, no Céline is not the owner of the magazine, she has supported the publication of health content for a long time and thanks to her, and to the other partner-advertisers too, we can prioritize content that is more delicate to process and give it more attention. importance like health.
Roger-Luc Chayer, editor

Dear Mr. Chayer, I find you publish the finest covers of any media I read. I don’t know your aesthetic secret, but the magazine never disappoints me!
Richard L., Blainville

Hi Richard, thank you sincerely for your comment. The secret is to have a good eye and good taste out of respect for our readers and advertisers. A magazine cover is like a movie poster, it’s the first thing readers see and it has to intrigue and / or attract. It must also be said that the quality of our paper gives a beautiful appearance to our pages 🙂
