« But what is going on with your city? » Asked me
a French tourist visiting Montreal (Village) in
last March for a conference of a few days … « But that’s
scary all this filth, do not you have pride? What do
your elected? « , asked me with anger barely camouflaged that
who expected a pearl of America, as often presented
the metropolis in European commercials … For a Montrealer,
the reaction of this tourist is embarrassing, but it’s worse when
we are trying to find out what is going on directly with the elected representatives of
the Ville-Marie borough, including Robert Beaudry, councilor responsible
of the Village. The complaints have been festering for years
on the state of uncleanliness of the whole Village, as on the presence
very many homeless people or drug sellers who
have an impact on the quality of life of all and on the local economy.
Gay Globe has been trying for a long time to meet the advisor
Beaudry to know what his plans are, what does he hear
concretely to save the Village and give it back a little
of cleanliness in every sense of the word, but now, Robert Beaudry
do not want to answer our questions. Worse, he even tries to
control our press freedom by trying to filter our questions
before agreeing to meet us. On February 11, 2018, we email with her assistant, Ms. Faucher,
to explain the importance of communication between elected officials
and the media. On February 13, 2019 only, Ms. Faucher told us
wrote « You see me sorry for this delay, if you wish
interview Mr. Beaudry (portrait of the elected representative, his
mink, etc.), I invite you to send us a list of questions
as well as a due date and we will analyze the possibility of
schedule an interview. « A first or almost in my career!
I immediately replied that the rules of the Council of
Press banned journalists from giving a right of inspection to
their sources before publication, to which Mrs Faucher answered me
eight days later « Mr. Beaudry having a busy schedule and
a limited time we ask, before accepting or not a
interview, to know the angles and the topics to be discussed … »
Obviously, I did not submit my questions in advance and
Mr. Beaudry refuses again and again to face the terrible
reality of the management of his sector. We will come back to
the subject on page 10 of this edition with photos and publication
complete questions we would have for the stealthy elected!
