THE WORST OF JOURNALISM

Carle Jasmin

In my entire career, I have never read a journalistic text as riddled with racism, homophobia, ageism and arrogance as the one published by the site sanslimitesn.com, and signed by a man named Ahmaa Fall. On her cover page, the so-called journalist, who also claims to be an author, describes herself as follows: « I am particularly interested in science and technology, I publish articles on new information and communication technologies. I also publish news about digital news in Senegal (sic) »

In an article of various facts, the author reads: « RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HOMES WHO HAS DISEASED IN TOUBAB DIALAW: A 69-year-old French fag killed by his Senegalese partner of 19 years to avoid being penetrated in his turn ». And in the text ensues a series of violations of the most basic human rights. For example, when he talks about the Senegalese killer, he calls him by his name, but when he speaks of the white victim, he calls him « Sieur »! From the beginning of the text, the pseudo journalist sets the table and writes about the victim « an old Frenchman, Robert Alain Page, was killed a few days ago. » Why say old ???

Further on, he adds: « The sexagenarian would then have seized a knife to threaten him. There followed an altercation in which Seck retrieved the knife before stabbing the old man. « Aggressiveness and / or arrogance? Absolutely!

The shabby treatment of this news clearly comes from the fact that a white, homosexual European was killed by a « young » and good Senegalese, « victim » of his partner’s homosexuality. Racism? Of course! This kind of text would never survive the rules of ethics in force in Quebec and it is to ask what he was doing on the thread of Google! I thought it was important to talk about this text because it highlights the deep thought of the people of Senegal. Obviously, one must always try not to generalize, but when the media of a Muslim country openly deals with homosexuality, with impunity as in the present case, it is that the whole population thinks like that and it is up to all of us, tourists and investors, to decide whether to consider this country or not in financial strategies. That too must be talked about, Ahmaa Fall!
