Gay Globe Group abandons its .US domain name to adopt .NET

Roger-Luc Chayer

Gay Globe Media will no longer use its domain name from April 2019 and will adopt as its main domain name to facilitate its expansion on the Internet. The domain name ending in .US was purchased at the outset of Gay Globe’s web-based operations in 2002 because Canadian legislation at the time, including Internet advertising standards, prohibited homosexual advertising, or some cheerful representations. Since Gay Globe broadcast a lot of video material, news and movies at the time, the best way to escape these standards was to have a foreign domain name and the .US met our needs. These standards have been changed over the years and the .US is no longer relevant or useful today, hence the decision to change for .NET permanently. Users of the Gay Globe site will be redirected and we suggest that readers change their bookmarks accordingly.
