Débuts et formation musicale
Didier Castell-Jacomin commence à l’âge de 4 ans l’étude du piano.
Il rencontre György Cziffra à Senlis à l’âge de 11 ans, puis est admis au Conservatoire National de Nice (France) où il obtient son diplôme en 1988 en piano, solfège et déchiffrage.
En 1988, après avoir obtenu son baccalauréat au lycée Masséna à Nice, il étudie à Saint-Maur-des-Fossés avec Catherine Collard, puis rencontre le pianiste Fausto Zadra.
Il est admis à l’École internationale de Piano, Fondation Centre International d’Études Musicales (CIEM) Mozart, à Lausanne et à Rome, où il étudie pendant douze ans.
Premières grandes prestations
En 1991, il interprète le concerto K.414 de Mozart pour la première fois en concert symphonique, lors de deux concerts d’amitié France-Québec à Nice, sous la direction du chef d’orchestre franco-canadien Roger-Luc Chayer.
Tournées internationales et salles prestigieuses
Des salles prestigieuses telles que Carnegie Hall (New York) en 2000 et 2008 avec le Forte String Quartet, le Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) en 2000 et 2001, la Philharmonie de Berlin ainsi que la Philharmonie de Baden-Baden, entre autres, l’ont accueilli durant la dernière décennie pour des prestations publiques dans le cadre de tournées.
Le pianiste, quelle que soit la salle qui l’accueille, ne s’économise jamais sur la qualité de ses prestations et donne le meilleur de lui-même afin de servir au mieux les œuvres qu’il interprète.
Enregistrements et collaborations majeures
En 1999, Didier Castell-Jacomin enregistre sous le label Calliope les concertos de Mozart K.414 et K.415 avec le Quatuor des Solistes de l’Orchestre de chambre du Philharmonique de Berlin.
Depuis, il a enregistré trois autres CD : un récital Mozart (label Calliope), un récital Chopin (label Cristal Records Classic) ainsi qu’un CD de musique russe Tendresse russe (label Cristal Records Classic).
Festivals et présentations
Caroline Haffner, directrice générale du festival « New Year Music Festival », fait appel au pianiste en 2009 pour interpréter, entre autres, un concerto de Haydn (année Haydn).
Lors de son concert au Théâtre de l’Athénée à Paris en octobre 2009, Ève Ruggiéri présente son enregistrement Polonia (récital d’œuvres de Chopin).
Reconnaissance et publications
La revue annuelle Piano 24 de La Lettre du musicien confie à Didier Castell-Jacomin l’enregistrement d’un CD de musique russe, Tendresse Russe, offert à ses lecteurs, encarté dans le numéro 24 en 2010.
Œuvres et enregistrements dédiés aux femmes compositrices
En 2010, il se consacre à l’étude d’une série d’œuvres de compositrices et rencontre Christine Géliot, arrière-petite-fille de la compositrice Mel Bonis, dépositaire de toutes ses œuvres.
De cette rencontre naît un enregistrement consacré aux femmes compositrices, conçu en juillet 2011 dans les studios Teldex à Berlin.
La même année, le compositeur Florent Gauthier publie une œuvre dédiée à Christelle Abinasr et Didier Castell-Jacomin, qu’il crée en 2012.
Distinctions et critiques
En octobre 2012, le critique musical britannique Norman Lebrecht, dans Open Letters Monthly, qualifie Didier Castell-Jacomin de pianiste « éblouissant » en parlant de son interprétation sur le CD Regards consacré aux femmes compositrices (Intégral Classic).
La même année, il obtient pour cet enregistrement le prix « MAESTRO » décerné par le magazine national Pianiste.
Réunion historique et projets récents
En 2019, après 28 ans sans se revoir, Didier Castell-Jacomin se rend à Montréal pour une réunion historique avec le chef d’orchestre Roger-Luc Chayer, à l’issue d’une tournée aux États-Unis, afin de préparer une tournée au Québec.
Le projet sera interrompu par la crise de la COVID-19.
Beginnings and Musical Education
Didier Castell-Jacomin began studying piano at the age of 4.
At 11, he met György Cziffra in Senlis, then was admitted to the National Conservatory of Nice (France), where he graduated in 1988 in piano, music theory, and sight-reading.
In 1988, after obtaining his baccalaureate at Lycée Masséna in Nice, he studied in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés with Catherine Collard, then met pianist Fausto Zadra.
He was admitted to the International Piano School, Mozart International Center for Musical Studies (CIEM) Foundation, in Lausanne and Rome, where he studied for twelve years.
First Major Performances
In 1991, he performed Mozart’s K.414 concerto for the first time in a symphonic concert during two France-Quebec friendship concerts in Nice, conducted by Franco-Canadian conductor Roger-Luc Chayer.
International Tours and Prestigious Venues
Prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York) in 2000 and 2008 with the Forte String Quartet, the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) in 2000 and 2001, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, among others, have welcomed the pianist over the past decade for public performances during tours.
The pianist, regardless of the venue, never spares effort in the quality of his performances and gives his best to serve the works he interprets.
Recordings and Major Collaborations
In 1999, Didier Castell-Jacomin recorded Mozart’s concertos K.414 and K.415 under the Calliope label with the Soloists Quartet of the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.

In 2010, he devoted himself to studying a series of works by women composers and met Christine Géliot, great-granddaughter of composer Mel Bonis and custodian of all her works.
This meeting led to a recording dedicated to women composers, conceived in July 2011 at the Teldex studios in Berlin.

In 2019, after 28 years apart, Didier Castell-Jacomin traveled to Montreal for a historic reunion with conductor Roger-Luc Chayer following a tour in the United States to prepare a Quebec tour.
The project was interrupted by the COVID-19 crisis.
