Three days ago, the entire world reported on Donald Trump’s use of the Nazi pink triangle, accompanied by a red circle resembling a prohibition symbol, without really understanding why he did this or why he published it on his social network, Truth Social, without any context.
The image was corroborated by Yahoo’s fact-checking service, and the analysis results can be found at Yahoo Fact Check.
History of the Pink Triangle
The pink triangle is a symbol with a painful history, intimately linked to the persecution of homosexuals under the Nazi regime. Starting in 1933, when the Nazis came to power in Germany, the systematic repression of homosexual individuals intensified. The police hunted and arrested thousands of men accused of « deviant » behavior, often based on paragraph 175 of the German penal code, which criminalized same-sex relationships.
Many were sent to concentration camps, where prisoners were categorized into distinct groups, identified by triangles of different colors sewn onto their uniforms. Homosexuals were marked with a pink triangle, a stigma that further isolated them in the concentration camp hell.
In these camps, prisoners wearing the pink triangle were often subjected to particularly brutal treatment, not only by the guards but also by other prisoners. Forced labor, abuse, and inhumane medical experiments were part of their daily lives, and their mortality rate was extremely high.
Upon the liberation of the camps, these survivors received no recognition. Worse still, some were re-imprisoned, as paragraph 175 remained in effect long after the war.
Use of the Pink Triangle by Gay and Lesbian Communities
According to our historical research, the pink triangle, once a symbol of persecution, was reclaimed by gay and lesbian communities as an emblem of resistance and remembrance.
From the 1970s, in the context of the homosexual liberation movements, the pink triangle was rediscovered and adopted as a reminder of past injustices and a call for solidarity. It quickly became an identity marker, embodying resilience and pride in the face of marginalization.
Its use spread, particularly during LGBTQ+ rights demonstrations, where it symbolized not only the memory of Nazi persecutions but also the ongoing struggles for equality and recognition.
It was also frequently used during protests or marches for social justice, as well as at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, to raise awareness among pharmaceutical industries that homosexuals were the primary victims of the disease, while very little funding was allocated for medical research.

Trump’s Use of the Pink Triangle
According to Yahoo News, Trump posted a link to an article, which displayed a preview of the main illustration featuring an upside-down pink triangle with a red bar crossing it. It was unclear whether he had read the article or understood what the illustration depicted or symbolized. The article was originally published on the Washington Times website to accompany a text about the ban on homosexuals in the military.
In summary, Trump did indeed post a link on Truth Social to an article published on the conservative daily The Washington Times (archived). The article’s main illustration appears in the preview and depicts a television set with an upside-down pink triangle and an overlaid red symbol, typically interpreted as meaning « forbidden. »
Several sources confirm that the Nazis did indeed use a pink triangle to identify homosexual men in concentration camps. Therefore, we have rated this claim as true. However, it is unknown whether Trump read the article he linked to or understood what the illustration depicted or symbolized. We have contacted the White House for a comment and will update this story if we receive a response.

Trump Goes Too Far, Every Day
The Prime Minister of France, Mr. François Bayrou, questioned this week in the National Assembly in Paris the mental health of the President of the United States, urging lawmakers to reflect on how to handle the situation.
Switzerland, a country with strong values of neutrality, allowed a parade this week as part of a festival, where people marched with middle fingers raised, accompanied by brass bands and drums, following the image of Donald Trump. Furthermore, it announced, for one of the rare times in its history, new economic sanctions against the United States, thus aligning its foreign policy with that of the European Union, even though it is not a member. For Switzerland to make such decisions, something serious must certainly be happening.
All the Ingredients Are Now in Place for a Fourth Reich
A « Reich » is characterized by a totalitarian regime based on Nazi ideology, marked by the cult of the leader, racism, anti-Semitism, and expansionism. The Third Reich led to World War II and the Holocaust, ending in May 1945 with the defeat of Nazi Germany by the Allies.
Donald Trump cannot ignore the consequences of his actions. As in the past, he is surrounded by lieutenants devoid of any judgment, who view the President of the United States as an emperor, the king of the world.
All the measures implemented in the last two months are exactly modeled after those adopted by Adolf Hitler starting in 1932. The ethnic cleansing launched against immigrants, whether legal or illegal, against political and humanitarian refugees, the purges carried out by the DOGA and Elon Musk against federal employees, the erasure of LGBTQ+ identities in both civilian and military federal society, as well as the cancellation of diversity policies within the government, are elements reminiscent of those put in place by Hitler.
Considering all the countries of the world as enemies, abusers of the United States that must be punished or forcibly annexed, also echoes the ideas promoted by Hitler.
An important note, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933, by President Paul von Hindenburg. However, he was not directly elected to this position.
Hitler and his party, the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP), won the 1932 legislative elections but did not secure an absolute majority. After political negotiations and maneuvers, Hitler was appointed Chancellor. Once in power, he quickly consolidated his authority and established a dictatorial regime.
With Trump, this is just the beginning!
